Smart Life Week in Seoul: Driving IoT to Improve the Quality of Life

Seoul, South Korea, was the setting for “Smart Life Week 2024”, an international congress on the Internet of Things (IoT) and its impact on the quality of life of citizens and the development of smart cities. The event took place from October 10 to 12, 2024, with the participation of the city of Madrid. Mr. Fernando de Pablos, General Director of the Digital Office of the Madrid City Council and Mr. Fernando Alvarez, Deputy Director of Digital Transformation of the Madrid City Council, Mr. Manuel Sierra and Mr. Guillermo del Campo, professors of the Polytechnic University of Madrid have presented the activities of IoTMADLab.

Fernando de Pablo was a speaker at the “Global CDO Conference”, where he presented his talk entitled “Digital Transformation and AI for Human Centric Services in Madrid”. During his speech, he highlighted the various initiatives that the Digital Office of the Madrid City Council is implementing to promote the use of technology to improve the efficiency of municipal services and the quality of life and well-being of citizens.

The Madrid delegation was also present at the “Smart Life” exhibition. At their stand they had the opportunity to share knowledge, experiences and advances in the application of IoT in the urban environment with the more than 20,000 people attending the event.

This type of event underlines the importance of collaboration between the municipal administration and the university in the search for innovative solutions that transform our cities into more livable and sustainable places. The IoTMADLab remains committed to research and development in the field of IoT, and its participation in international forums reflects Madrid’s relevance in the global sphere of urban technology.

With this type of collaboration, the Madrid City Council continues to promote the efforts framed in the Madrid Digital Capital strategy, to boost the innovative ecosystem of the city and the creation of digital solutions that improve the quality of life of citizens.
